Embassy Mag Mile: My Chicago Staycation

I’m a unique being. I’m always looking for opportunities to travel outside of Chicago because…wanderlust. On the flip side, after embarking on amazing local experiences, a spark of excitement always fills my soul. I’m then reminded how grateful I am to call this city my hometown.

This city. I can’t take for granted. I’m grateful.

After traveling to New Orleans and Aruba earlier this year, I decided to stay local for the latter. My impulsiveness was ready to book a trip with a friend to Miami this December for Art Basel, but being a young adult comes with priorities and that’s not necessarily a bad thing. “With travel plans pushed to 2019, how should I spend the remaining months in 2018?”, I asked myself. Luckily for me, someone from Embassy Suites Chicago Downtown Magnificent Mile extended an invitation to check out the hotel and all they have to offer. Timing was perfect. I’ve always wanted to schedule a staycation and explore Chicago like a tourist - appreciating all the beauty this city has to offer.

Cool facts:

  • There’s an indoor Sky Garden that grows fresh herbs also used in the hotel’s food and drinks

  • All rooms are two-room suites with city and lake views

  • Four local women artists painted Urbs in Horto (City in a Garden) - a 176 ft. long mural in the hotel’s entryway paying homage to Chicago mixed with scenes of nature

  • Complimentary evening reception

  • Free made-to-order breakfast daily

  • In the heart of Chicago’s Magnificent Mile and sits right above AMC River East 21 Theater

I accepted the invitation, packed my bags, and put on my creative hat to document my experience at the hotel. By far one of my favorite hotels in Chicago due to their hospitality, proximity to attractions, size of the rooms, views, and amazing amenities making a staycation feel right at home. I highly recommend staying here if you’re a traveler passing by or a local looking for vacation vibes right in the heart of your city. I’ll stop here and let you be the judge.
